Founded in 1923, SAMH has spent more than a century supporting mental health and wellbeing across Scotland.
As the country’s national mental health charity, it plays a vital role in helping people access the support they need, while also working to reduce stigma and improve understanding of mental health in every community.
Today, SAMH delivers essential services in more than 70 communities throughout Scotland. Their work includes social care, addiction recovery support, community-based wellbeing services and practical help that allows people to move forward with greater confidence and stability.
They also campaign for better mental health services and earlier intervention, helping to ensure that support is available before people reach crisis point.
At The Scotto, we recognise just how important this work is. Mental health affects individuals, families and communities right across Scotland, and charities like SAMH make a real difference to people’s lives every day. By supporting SAMH, The Scotto and its players are helping to fund services that offer hope, dignity and meaningful support when it matters most.
As SAMH say themselves, “People should ask once and get help fast.” That simple idea reflects the kind of change we are proud to support through the generosity of our players.

People should ask once and get help fast.”
A major part of SAMH’s work is making mental health support easier to access. One of its most important recent projects is The Nook, Scotland’s first network of walk-in mental health support hubs.
These hubs are designed to offer barrier-free, stigma-free support, with no appointment, referral or waiting list required. The first Nook is now open in Glasgow, with more planned for other parts of Scotland.
SAMH plays a vital role in creating a fairer, healthier Scotland where mental health is treated with the seriousness, compassion and urgency it deserves. At The Scotto, with the support of our players, we are delighted to be able to help SAMH carry on their valuable work.
The Scotto wants to help SAMH get the message out that there is help available for mental health. SAMH are supporting 46,000 people a year all over Scotland and they want to be able to help more. Watch the video to find out more about this excellent charity.
Our players have raised over half a million pounds so far for some amazing charities. Find out more below.
